This notice explains how Get Happy Discos uses personal information when you visit this website, contact us or enquire about our entertainment services. Colin Torley, trading as Get Happy Discos, is the data controller responsible for the personal information collected for these purposes. For privacy questions or to exercise your rights, contact Colin Torley at colin@gethappydiscos.co.uk or call 07764 453842.
Information we collect
When you contact us, we receive the information you choose to provide, such as your name, email address, telephone number, event date, venue and enquiry details. Please only provide information needed for your enquiry and avoid sending sensitive personal information. If you make a booking, we also need the information necessary to arrange and provide the service and manage payment and business records.
Our website and hosting systems process technical information, such as IP addresses, requested pages, browser information and access times, to deliver the site, diagnose faults and protect it from misuse. If you allow analytics, Google Analytics also processes information about visits, device/browser characteristics and interactions with pages.
Why we use your information
- Enquiries and bookings: to reply, provide quotations and arrange or deliver a service. Our legal basis is taking steps at your request before a contract, or performing our contract with you. For other general correspondence, we rely on our legitimate interest in answering requests and running our business.
- Website operation and security: our legitimate interests in maintaining a reliable website, preventing misuse and investigating technical problems.
- Accounting and legal obligations: where processing is necessary to comply with applicable legal duties.
- Optional website analytics: your consent. You can withdraw it at any time through Cookie settings in the footer.
Sending an enquiry does not sign you up to marketing. We do not use the website to make automated decisions that have legal or similarly significant effects on you.
Our enquiry form and service providers
The online enquiry form is provided by Tally. The form loads automatically on our contact page, connecting your browser to Tally. Submitting it sends the details you enter to Tally for us to receive and manage. You can contact us by email or telephone instead. Tally states that form responses are stored in Europe. See Tally’s privacy information for details of its service.
Information is processed by service providers where needed to operate our website, email, enquiry handling, hosting and backups. Google receives analytics information only when you enable analytics. Professional advisers or public authorities may receive information where necessary for legal obligations, business administration or legal claims. We do not sell your personal information.
Processing outside the UK
Some suppliers operate internationally. Tally stores form responses in Europe, while suppliers such as Google may process information in other countries. Where a transfer is subject to UK data-protection restrictions, an appropriate safeguard is required, such as an adequacy regulation or approved contractual safeguards. Contact us for information about the safeguards relevant to your enquiry or booking. You can use this site without enabling Google Analytics.
How long information is kept
We keep personal information only for as long as it is needed for the purpose for which it was collected. There is no general six-year statutory maximum under UK data-protection law.
Enquiries that do not lead to a booking are kept only while needed to respond and handle relevant follow-up. Booking information is retained for service delivery and any necessary follow-up, accounting or legal purposes. Records needed for self-employed tax obligations are normally kept for at least five years after the 31 January submission deadline for the relevant tax year, as required by HMRC. A longer period may be necessary where specific legal requirements, a tax enquiry or an unresolved legal claim apply. This does not mean every enquiry or all personal information is kept for that period.
Technical records and backups are retained according to their operational and security purpose. Information should be deleted or anonymised when it is no longer needed. Contact us for the retention criteria applicable to a particular record or to request deletion.
Cookies and similar technologies
Optional analytics is disabled by default. The cookie panel gives equally accessible choices to accept or reject it, or save your preferences. Use Cookie settings in the footer to change or withdraw your choice at any time. Rejecting analytics does not prevent you from browsing or contacting us.
- ghd_cookie_consent: a first-party preference cookie that remembers your analytics choice and when it was made, for 180 days. It is needed to respect your choice.
- Essential service cookies: the website or an explicitly requested service may use session and security cookies to support login, protect requests or provide the enquiry form. These are not used by our website for advertising.
- Google Analytics (_ga and _ga_*): optional cookies used to distinguish visits and understand website usage. They load only after consent. This website sets an expiry of up to 180 days, which Google may refresh on subsequent visits. Advertising personalisation and Google Signals are disabled in our website tag.
If you withdraw analytics consent, we stop loading the analytics tag and clear accessible Google Analytics cookies for this website. This does not retrospectively delete information already processed by Google; you can contact us about your rights. Browser settings can also remove or block cookies, although blocking essential cookies may affect requested services.
To display the site, your browser requests fonts, icons and interface files from providers including Adobe Fonts, Google Fonts, Font Awesome and Cloudflare’s cdnjs. Those requests disclose your IP address and browser request details to the relevant provider. Links to services such as YouTube, Spotify, Apple Music and social networks take you to separate websites whose privacy notices apply.
Your rights
Depending on the circumstances, you can ask to access or correct your information, request deletion or restriction, object to processing based on legitimate interests, and request a portable copy of information processed by automated means on the basis of consent or a contract. Where we rely on consent, you can withdraw it without affecting the lawfulness of earlier processing. Some rights are subject to legal exceptions.
Contact us using the details above. We may need to confirm your identity and will normally respond within one month, or explain if a permitted extension applies. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO), the UK data-protection regulator, or call 0303 123 1113. You do not need to contact us first.
Changes to this notice
We will update this page if the website or our use of personal information changes. The date above shows the latest revision.
